Banks slashed small business lending by $43 billion

The total value of outstanding loans to small businesses plunged by $43 billion, or 6.2%, between June of 2009 and June of 2010, according to data from the FDIC statistics on depository institutions as presented in the SBA's Office of Advocacy annual study on the state of small business lending released this week.
